Qui in Arabia Saudita i locali hanno due sezioni separate: quella 'Family Only' per le famiglie e le donne e quella 'Singles' o 'Bachelor' per gli uomini 'soli'. Un uomo è 'Single' o 'Bachelor' quando non è accompagnato da moglie, sorella o madre. Attenzione a non confondere con i locali 'per soli uomini': niente di più diverso. Un po' come il Saudi Champagne (succo di mela e acqua gasata) e lo Champagne Francese. Nei cinque mesi vissuti da Single mentre aspettavo che Marta mi raggiungesse ho visto buona parte dei ristoranti, sezione 'Singles'. Specialmente nei primi tempi, con pochissimi contatti tra i nuovi colleghi, cenavo da solo, sprofondato sui divanetti occhi su whatsapp e pensieri all'Italia. Ieri da Chilli's il nostro tavolo era proprio sul limite delle due sezioni....
Here in Saudi all restaurants and clubs have two distinct sections: the 'Family Only' which includes also women and the 'Singles' or 'Bachelor'. A man is considered 'Single' or 'Bachelor' when not with his wife, sister or mother. Be careful not to confuse them with 'Single's bar': nothing could be more different. A bit like 'Saudi Champagne' (apple juice and sparkling water) and French Champagne. During those 5 months I lived here as a single, waiting for Marta to join me, I could see most of the restaurant's 'Singles' sections. Particularly at the very beginning, while I had still very few contacts and new colleagues known, I was used to have dinner on my own, sank on those sofas with my eyes on whatsapp and my mind thinking back at Italy. Yesterday at Chilli's our table was right close to the border fence of the two sections...
